From tody, landlords and lettings agents will be able to signpost tenants struggling with their rent, income or housing benefits to a new independent advice service run by Citizens Advice Cymru.
The Private Rented Sector Helpline will be a free, confidential, and independent service that will advise tenants on ways in which they can maximise their income and manage debt - with a view of helping them pay their rent and sustain their tenancies.
The service and helpline is being funded by the Welsh Government and is designed to help those experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. Many will be experiencing issues like this for the first time and it is essential that they are given access to the support they need at a much earlier stage; ideally, at the first sign that they're going to struggle to pay their rent and/or household bills.
If your tenants are in a similar position, support is available by calling Citizens Advice Cymru on 0300 330 2177.
A range of downloadable materials have been created to raise awareness of the new service. To access, click here.
